The Chesterfield Clinic at the Nuffield Hospital Bristol is situated a mile away from Clifton Village and is one of two Nuffield hospitals in Bristol.  Offering a high level of expertise to its patients, the cardiology department offers a range of investigations for the assessment and treatment of heart failure. • 24 hour ambulatory blood pressure monitor

The ExtraLife Assessment Clinic at 42 Wimpole Street offers a comprehensive cardiac assessment for patients with heart problems. 

Run by Dr Hugh McIntyre, Consultant Physician and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist, patients can choose to have a range of diagnostic tests carried out including an electrocardiogram (ECG), echocardiogram and blood tests.  Dr McIntyre will discuss the test results and prognosis of the condition, advise on the best medical and surgical treatments and explore associated issues including personal and psychological aspects of the condition.

Patients can choose to have their follow-up appointments with Dr McIntyre either in Oxford or London and, where appropriate, further treatment will be arranged with the ExtraLife team at the Manor Hospital in Oxford.

The Manor Hospital was opened in October 2004 and provides patient centred treatment in comfortable and relaxed surroundings.  The cardiology department offers:

In addition to these resources the hospital has six operating theatres (including a dedicated cardiac theatre) onsite pathology, pharmacy and physiotherapy services and a seven bedded critical care unit (CCU).  The hospital has 71 private en suite bedrooms and a dietician is on hand to advise on the best diet for recovery.  The Balcony Café provides hot and cold food and drinks, magazines, newspapers and a selection of toiletries.
