Do you need an ExtraLife Heart Check-Up?

You can reduce your likelihood of developing cardiovascular disease by early identification of the risk factors.  If you can answer ‘Yes’ to two or more of the following questions, you may benefit from a Heart Check-Up:

  • Are you over the age of 50?
  • Is there a family history of heart disease or stoke in your family?
  • Have you ever smoked?
  • Are you overweight?
  • Do you have high blood pressure?
  • Do you have a raised cholesterol level?

The ExtraLife Heart Check-Up is aimed at people who don’t have a heart problem but would like a check-up or advice on their risk of developing a heart problem in the future.   

Your heart health is our priority, which is why we make sure that you have immediate access to a leading consultant cardiologist.  Your GP practice may be able to carry out a risk assessment for you, but your results will not normally be reviewed by a consultant cardiologist at that stage.  If your GP feels that you may be at risk and need to see a specialist, you will have to wait for a NHS referral.  There are currently 31,351 patients waiting for their first cardiology outpatient appointment. 

The ExtraLife Heart Check-Up – £450

  • Appointment with a consultant cardiologist
  • Health questionnaire – including height, weight, BMI
  • Blood pressure check
  • ECG
  • Diabetes test
  • Cholesterol test
  • Report by a consultant cardiologist detailing your test results and lifestyle/treatment recommendations
  • Follow-up telephone call with our specialist cardiac nurse

The benefits:

  • We don’t have any waiting lists – appointments are available within a couple of days
  • Your test results are available on the same day and your consultant cardiologist is able to discuss them with you during your appointment
  • If your consultant cardiologist feels that further tests are necessary, these can be carried out on the same day
  • You will receive a full written report from your consultant cardiologist, detailing their advice and/or treatment recommendations
  • If you need to have further treatment we can arrange this for you, either at the same or nearest ExtraLife clinic

Second Opinion Consultations - £799

We understand that patients, even if they are appropriately diagnosed and treated, sometimes want further advice, information or reassurance about their heart condition.
If you already have a heart problem and would like a second opinion, book a consultation today.  Your consultation will include:

  • Appointment with a consultant cardiologist
  • Health questionnaire – including height, weight, BMI
  • Blood pressure check
  • ECG
  • Echocardiogram
  • Report by consultant cardiologist
  • Follow-up telephone call with our specialist cardiac nurse

If your consultant cardiologist feels that you need further tests or treatment, we can arrange this too, usually at the same hospital.
